The boys' league campaign, after a lot of postponements and re-scheduling finally got going today in the Bull Ring against a determined Corinthians side.
The visitors got off the mark with two nice drag flicks after forcing corners from swift attacking moves. A breakaway from a 'tarf short corner then saw Corinthians take their chance on the overload to leave it 0-3. Kev Mullins pulled one back for the hosts with a tidy finish after nice skills (or overplaying it kev?!) in the D.
Clontarf forced many half chances from play and matched their opponents short corner count but could not turn chances into goals and the Corinthians GK made some vital saves. 1-3 at the half.
The re-start saw a much improved 'tarf performance and many chances were created from open play and also from corners but alas the visitors ran out 2-5 winners.
According to the Sky Sports website, sources close to the Clontarf coach claim that he is considering banning the use of aerials for next week's match at home to Weston, Sunday 22nd at 2pm. Either that or getting in some top psychologists to probe the minds of teens addicted to aerials. It's called 'ground hurling' for a reason after all!!
