The 3rd XI has had a pretty successful season finishing 3rd in Leinster Division 5, we played 18 games won 10, lost 3 and drew 5. We scored 44 goals with Poynts scoring 16, Butzy 6, Ben Lacy 5 and 9 others chipping in with 3 or less.

We had a great blend of experience and youth playing an equal part on and off the field all season. One highlight would be a Thursday night towards the end of February we had 22 players at training more than the 1s and 2s squads combined that evening.

Memorable result would be away to North Kildare winning 5-1 and the return leg beating them 5-4, they finished 2nd in the league. We went unbeaten in the league till the penultimate game before the Christmas break. Unfortunately, that was our downfall having drawn games early in the season that we could of won.

The thing as coach I am most pleased about is how the school boys have improved over the season both skills and tactically on the field and in confidence off the field. They have listened to all the “old boys” at training and during matches, with a number of them moving up to the 2nds squad regularly. I can honestly say this has been one of the most enjoyable seasons I have every played!

Last thing can I say a big thank you to all the boys that have been to training and played in the matches for their efforts throughout the season. Also, a massive thanks to all of the umpires too. This makes life a lot easier not having to worry about this anymore with the rota Sean Cassidy set up.
